Shokudama

Shokudama is set in the late Edo period when Japan's contemporary food culture first began to develop. Its protagonist is Himura Tamanosuke, a bodyguard for hire with excellent sword skills. One night, Himura is visited by the ""Souls of Food,"" and they demand that he help them move on to Nirvana since his father failed to do so before he passed away. Threatened by a death curse, he agrees to help, but how exactly is he supposed to aid 108 food souls gain entry to Nirvana?!
